Our dock on the Bergse voorplas is located directly on the terrace of the popular hotspot Wine Bar Mendoza. The Bergse lake the most populare area in Rotterdam for local boaters, a tour acros boat lakes takes about 2 hours. On sunny days the locals are float here for hours and enjoying the cosiness on the water. Combine the cruise with a bottle of wine and a drink box from Mendoza and you have your own terrace in the middle of the lake! If you are going to sail for longer than 3,5 hours, you can go to the Rotte using the lock, from here you can sail towards the Rottemeren (± 6 hours) or to the Kralingse Plas (± 4,5 hours).
The lock between the Bergse Plas and the Rotte is open at Monday until thursdays from 09:00 to 17:00 and on Fridays to Sundays from 06:00 to 22:00 Only go outside if you have booked at least 3.5 hours, on hot days it can be very busy and the waiting time at the lock can be up to 1.5 hours, so also you have to be back at the dock 1,5 hours before your trip ends.

Go to the dock where you've reserved a boat, 15 minutes in advance you receive a text messegas on your phone.
Step 3:
Press the link and activated the engine on with your phone, cast off the lines and set sail!

Use the sluice to take the boat up by 2 metres to the level of the rivier the Rotte and cruise towards the Kralingse lake. You pass 2 diferent sluices during this cruise. The Bergse and Kralingse lake are the last two remaining of the 7 peat lakes that used to be in Rotterdam.
Sail on pleasure river Rotte, did you know that the Rotte is the river that gave Rotterdam its name? For this route you need to reserve at least 4/6 hours because of the busy sluice. A short trip up till Oud Terbregge takes 4 hours sailing, if you want to go all the way to the Rottemeren, you need to book atleast 6 hours.
The two lakes are separated by the centuries-old connecting road called 'de Straatweg'. This is also known as the "Miljonairs Road" because of the many villas on the banks of the lake. On the back part of the lake you sail between numerous small islands with small cabins on them that people use to escape the busy city in the summer. Since you can hardly see this area from the shore, it may be one of Rotterdam's best kept secrets.
Many locals sail with small boats on the back lake between there cabins ans the shore, so you have to be careful because it can be quite busy. On the front lake, especially on weekends, regular sailing is done by the scouting associations or the sailing class of sailingclub Aegir.
Complete your cruise with a delicious bottle of wine from Winebar Mendoza, if you are also hungry then expand your cruise with a snack box, you do this by ticking it in the reservation system.
Public transport
You can easily reach this jetty by public transport from Rotterdam central you can take tram 4 to Halte Bergse Dorpsstraat.

Parking your car
Parking you can park you car at this dock on the weissenbruchlaan, please note, this is paid parking except on Sundays. In the evening it is very busy here with visitors from the nearby restaurant.
If there is no space or if you prefer to park your car for free, it is best to cross the bridge, in front of the Donkers marina, parking is free on this part of the weissenbruchlaan. Parking is also free at the Prinses Beatrix Plantsoen.
